Who is Kermit Films?
Welcome! My name is Lucas Kermit and my passions are Photography and Videography but all around I’m a pretty "techie" person interested in creating cool things and telling good stories.
What is Lucas up to?
I am currently studying Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. I've been working on many student film sets while also taking courses and creating for fun on the side. For more details on what I have most recently created look at the Photography and Videography pages.
How did Lucas get started with cameras?
In 6th grade, I moved from my local public elementary school to a private school. At this private school, each student was issued a school iPad and was able to take two different electives per quarter. I chose to take a media production class because it looked interesting. In this class, we used the iMovie app with the “trailers” feature (pre-made templates for movie trailers) to create short movies. I then took my iPad home and began to make more “trailers” with my friends. This led to the Funny Bros series being created. Soon after, I made a “trailer” for the academic program my dad was involved in at the school where he teaches. I then decided the best way to distribute this video to all of the teachers and staff would be by uploading this video to YouTube. This resulted in the creation of my YouTube channel in August 2013. I then thought if I was to post the video I made for my dad’s school, why don’t I also post what I had made for fun with my friends. After creating the third Funny Bros video in the series, I realized that I could make videos without a template. This meant I did everything: filmed, edited, and chose titles, music, and graphics. And with this realization, my film-making career was born!
